Film Noir is French for Black Film, Film Noir is a cinematic term to describe stylish Hollywood crime dramas, particularly those that focus on cynical attitudes and sexual motivations.
Film Noir can be recognised by chiaroscuro, a term meaning light and dark, also shadows from the Venetian blinds cast upon the actors face. Film Noir is also known for its use of low angle, wide angle or skewed angle shots. Also the women characters in film noir play very provocative roles.
From studying Media A Level, I am familiar with Film Noir films, so to help me with my research I am going to re-watch films such as "Dead men don't wear Plaid" and "Double Indemnity"
I can use this research to allow me design an outfit that relates to Film Noir. I already have a few ideas, but some illustrations need to take place first!

Givenchy
Fall Couture 2011, Paris.
Riccardo Tisci described his collection "Purity, Lightness and Fragility"
The collection was of 10 beautiful looks, they were all white or very nearly. The designs were full of embellishments, tiger-eye pearls that had been inserted with crystals to catch the light, hand-curled feathers, silver-grey caviar beads, the list goes on.
The dresses had a range of styles; high neck, backless, sheer top half, sheer skirt, long sleeved, etc.
For my Film Noir summer project, I was thinking to do a dress with the sheer skirt style. Especially for film noir, if I use a grey/black sheer fabric, the light will cause the sheer fabric to create shadows - a film noir classic.

stunning.

recent obsession
After watching Harry Potter and recieving Harpers Bazaar April 2011 issue with Emma Watson on the cover. She was no longer Hermione Granger, but a stunning model.
This months issue is about her facing her new career and leaving Hogwarts behind her, the story is all about whether she will keep her good-girl image or let loose her wicked side.
